Prop firms that allow algo trading

17 of the 20 active futures prop firms on our list permit automated trading in some form, from a free hand for your own EA to semi-automated tools only while you watch every trade.

Automation covers a wide range and firms rarely mean the same thing by it. At one end is an ATM bracket or an OCO order managing a trade you placed yourself. In the middle is a semi-automated tool that signals while you execute. At the far end is an unattended bot or expert advisor trading while you are away from the screen. Almost every rule on this page turns on where the human sits.

How we ranked it. Firms that allow it with no conditions come first, then firms that allow it with conditions. Inside each group, cheapest all-in price on the $50K account first, then A to Z. For one account at a time, use the rule checker.

Also on this list, but not ranked because they carry a caution on their page: Alpha Futures.

More on algo tradingBackground and the firms worth knowing about, written when the page launched.

17 of the 20 active futures prop firms on our list permit automation in some form, and only two put nothing in the way: Legends Trading and Lucid Trading. Three ban it outright and are not on this page: E8 Markets, Funded Futures Family and Take Profit Trader.

The conditions come in four shapes and they are not interchangeable. Ownership: Bulenox allows only tools you built for your own personal use and bans commercial, shared, rented or publicly distributed bots, while Tradeify may ask for proof you own the code, including a live video of you enabling it. Supervision: Alpha Futures, Phidias Prop Firm and Purdia Capital allow semi-automated tools only while you place, monitor and manage each trade, and ban set-and-forget systems. Route: TradeDay requires automation to run on a supported platform and bans purchased bots and direct API access, while Topstep allows bots through TopstepX or the ProjectX API with a standing ban on high-frequency trading. Exploitation: BluSky Trading Company, FTMO Futures, FundedNext Futures and MyFundedFutures permit automation but void anything aimed at latency, pricing errors or the favourable fills in the simulated environment.

The automated trading rule at each firm

2 of the 17 firms attach no conditions to automated trading; the other 15 do, and the rule column is the firm's own wording rather than our summary of it. A firm's policy can differ between the evaluation and the funded account, so the firm's page carries the full text.

Prop firms that allow algo trading FAQs

Q1

Which prop firms allow bots and EAs?

17 of the 20 active futures prop firms on our list permit automation in some form, and the table quotes each firm's rule. Only two put no condition on it at all. The rest attach one: who owns the code, whether you are watching, or how it is routed.
Q2

Which prop firms ban automated trading?

Three on our list: E8 Markets, Funded Futures Family and Take Profit Trader. They are not on this page, because it lists the firms that allow it. A ban is a firm-level rule, so it covers every plan those firms sell, evaluation and funded alike.
Q3

Can I run a bot I bought?

At several firms, no. Bulenox allows only tools you built for your own personal use and bans commercial, shared, rented or publicly distributed ones. TradeDay bans third-party purchased bots outright. Tradeify allows a personal bot but may ask for proof of ownership, including a live video of you enabling the code.
Q4

Is a trade copier the same as a bot?

Not to every firm. Apex Trader Funding documents how to use platform trade copiers and permits them, while prohibiting a system that executes preprogrammed logic without you. Funded Futures Network allows an EA on your own accounts but voids funding for synchronising execution across different users.
Q5

Does the automation rule change once I am funded?

It can, and the firm's own page is the place to check. MyFundedFutures adds a CME requirement on Live accounts on top of its simulated-environment rule. Our table carries the firm-level rule and quotes the wording, so a stage difference shows up there rather than being smoothed away.
Q6

Is high-frequency trading allowed?

Rarely. Topstep runs a standing platform-wide ban on it, DayTraders publishes an HFT ban as its only automation rule, and Tradeify excludes HFT from the personal bots it otherwise permits. Firms draw the line at systems firing hundreds or thousands of orders a second rather than at automation itself.
Q7

What happens if I automate against the rule?

The usual penalty is the account and the profit, not a warning. BluSky Trading Company states that using automated software to secure an unfair advantage can trigger account closure, and Funded Futures Network voids funding for exploiting the simulated environment. Enforcement comes after the fact, so read the rule first.
Q8

What counts as algorithmic trading?

Any software that places or manages orders for you, from an ATM bracket through to an unattended expert advisor. Firms split that range differently, which is why the permission column here is a starting point and the wording beside it is the rule. The dividing line is usually the human.
