Static drawdown prop firms

4 of the 20 active futures prop firms on our list offer at least one account with a static drawdown: a fixed dollar limit below the starting balance that never trails.

A static drawdown is a fixed loss limit. The account fails if the balance drops a set dollar amount below the starting balance, and that line never moves up as you make money. It is the easiest drawdown to plan around, and firms price it in by setting the amount lower than they would for a trailing limit. New to it? Here is what static drawdown is.

How we ranked it. Ranked by all-in price on the $50K account: the list price with the best current code applied, plus any activation fee, cheapest first. A firm with no qualifying $50K account comes after those that have one, shown at its nearest size. Ties go A to Z.

4 of the 20 active futures prop firms on our list offer at least one account with a static limit on the evaluation, the funded account or both: BluSky Trading Company, DayTraders, Phidias Prop Firm and Purdia Capital. The amounts are small. DayTraders' Static plans give $750 on a $25K account and $1,750 on $150K; Phidias' Express to Live runs $500 on $25K to $1,000 on $150K; BluSky's Static Propel gives $1,000 on $150K and $2,000 on $200K; Purdia's Static Instant is the widest at $3,000 on $100K and $5,000 on $150K, and it is an instant funding account.

Watch which stage the static limit applies to. BluSky's Launch and Propel evaluations trail end of day and only turn static once funded, while its 200K Static Orbit is the reverse. The table below shows both stages for every matching account.

Static drawdown prop firms FAQs

Q1

Which prop firms have a static drawdown?

4 of the 20 active futures prop firms on our list, named in the table: BluSky Trading Company, DayTraders, Phidias Prop Firm and Purdia Capital. Each offers it on specific plans rather than across the whole range, so the plan name matters more than the firm name here.
Q2

How much static drawdown do you get?

Less than a trailing limit on the same account size, which is the trade for a line that never moves. The table gives the amount for every static plan by size, at both stages, because several plans change the figure once the account is funded.
Q3

Why are static drawdowns smaller?

Because the limit never tightens, the firm's exposure is the full amount for the life of the account, so it sets the amount lower. DayTraders gives $750 on a $25K static account against $1,000 on its Full EOD account of the same size. Small limits reward tight stops.
Q4

Is a static drawdown better than end of day?

It is more predictable, not more generous. End of day limits start larger, so a trader who scales into winners has more room early. A static limit suits traders with a fixed stop who want the same number every day. The end of day drawdown prop firms page covers the other side.
Q5

Does the static limit apply once the account is funded?

It depends on the plan, and the table splits the two. Some plans here are static at both stages, some trail end of day during the evaluation and turn static once funded, and BluSky's Orbit runs the other way round. Read both columns before you buy.
Q6

Can a static drawdown ever move?

No. A static limit is fixed at a set dollar amount below the starting balance for the life of the account. That is the whole difference from a trailing limit, which climbs behind your closed profit either at the session close or in real time as equity rises.
Q7

Who is a static drawdown best for?

Traders who work to a fixed stop and want the same number every day. Because the floor never rises, a winning run does not tighten the room you have left, so the account behaves the same in week six as in week one. The trade is a smaller starting limit.
Q8

What is a static drawdown?

A maximum loss measured from the starting balance that never trails. If you start at $50,000 with a $1,000 static drawdown, the account fails at $49,000 whether you have made $5,000 in between or not. Trailing drawdowns move that line up behind your profits; a static one does not.
