Risk & Drawdown
Static Drawdown
A fixed drawdown that never trails. The breach level is set from the starting balance and stays there no matter how much profit you make.
In plain English
Static drawdown is the simplest risk rule: one line in the sand, usually a small distance below the starting balance, that never moves. Profits build a growing cushion above it.
Static accounts often come with smaller allowances than trailing ones since the firm's risk never shrinks. Some firms convert trailing drawdowns to static once the trailing level reaches the starting balance.
- A $25,000 static account with a $1,000 drawdown breaches only at $24,000, forever.
- At a $27,000 balance you have $3,000 of room.
