Risk & Drawdown
End-of-Day Drawdown
A drawdown that only moves up at the daily close, based on your end-of-day balance. Intraday swings do not move it, making it the most trader-friendly trailing type.
In plain English
With end-of-day (EOD) drawdown, the breach level recalculates once per day after the session closes, trailing your closed balance. During the day you can ride a trade up and give some back without the drawdown chasing your open profit.
EOD drawdown rewards traders who hold winners, and it is the type most firms advertise as a feature. It usually stops trailing once it reaches the starting balance or a small buffer above it.
- You start at $50,000 with a $2,000 EOD drawdown (breach at $48,000).
- You close day one at $51,000, so the breach level moves to $49,000 overnight, not during the day.
