Many funded accounts do not grant full position size on day one. A scaling plan ties your allowed contracts to your balance: cross a profit threshold and the next tier unlocks.
Scaling protects the firm from a fresh funded trader sizing max immediately, and it protects traders from themselves during the payout-buffer phase. Firms that skip scaling advertise full size from day one as a selling point.
- Tier 1: 2 minis until $1,000 profit.
- Tier 2: 5 minis until $2,500.
- Tier 3: full 10 minis beyond that.
