Risk & Drawdown
Contract Limit
The maximum number of futures contracts you may hold at once, usually quoted separately for minis and micros and often smaller during scaling stages.
In plain English
Every account caps position size in contracts. A typical $50,000 account might allow 5 minis or 50 micros at once. Funded accounts sometimes scale the limit: you start with partial size and unlock the full limit as your balance grows.
Contract limits also interact with the drawdown: max size plus a volatile market can hit a daily loss limit in seconds, so the cap is best treated as a ceiling, not a default.
- An account allows 4 minis or 40 micros.
- Holding 2 minis and 20 micros at once uses the full allowance at most firms since 10 micros equal 1 mini.
