GC covers 100 troy ounces of gold, ticking in 10 cent increments worth $10. Gold trends hard on real-rate and dollar moves and is most active around US data releases and the London-New York overlap.

For prop traders the appeal is clean trends; the catch is that gold's best moves often develop outside regular US equity hours, which only helps if the firm allows trading the full session. The micro MGC at one tenth size is the common evaluation choice.
