Trading Strategies
Breakout Trading
Entering when price pushes through a defined level such as a range high, expecting continuation. A staple prop strategy because winners run quickly toward targets.
In plain English
Breakout traders map a level the market is pressing against, enter as it gives way, and place the stop back inside the broken structure. The trade pays when the break attracts follow-through; it fails as a fakeout when price re-enters the range.
On prop accounts the appeal is speed: real breakouts move fast toward profit targets and clear daily loss limits little room to bite. The discipline cost is accepting frequent small fakeout losses, which a consistency-friendly, small-loss ledger absorbs well.
